We believe our operational infrastructure provides us with a competitive advantage compared to traditional automobile manufacturers.The RoleThe successful candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in all facets of maintaining paint lines, robotic paint application and related equipment, as well as experience managing equipment projects (new installations, upgrades & modifications, demolitions, replacements). Solid experience with HVAC and air management systems, machining and welding, robotics, & conveyor systems is a must. Experience with water born paint technology is a big plus.This person must be able to build upon previous successes, and take Paint center Maintenance to the next level. He/she must be capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams and department leaders to address concerns and issues that affect part quality, production efficiency, work cell ergonomics, facility maintenance, etc. The successful candidate will also have exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and management skills, demonstrating the ability to be an innovator and change agent. Additionally, he/she will be hands-on on the shop floor when needed.Responsibilities* Responsibility for scheduling maintenance activities in the center.* Manpower management: day to day line support; in-house repair work; breakdown response. Vacation scheduling; OT & weekend work scheduling.* Procedures & PMs, develop & maintain proper documentation of: all necessary procedures; periodic maintenance tasks; equipment changes (electrical, spare parts upgrades, mechanical), etc.* Reporting: major breakdown reports; monthly equipment efficiency measures (MTTR & MTBF, total uptime percentage); manpower utilization; etc.* Spare Parts: set up and maintain appropriate spare parts & consumables inventories.* Maintenance safety program: provide proper training (LOTO, 5-S, Arc Flash, etc.), tools, and equipment to ensure that the maintenance team operates safely at all times, and always lead by example.* Equipment related environmental compliance & improvements.Requirements* BS in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience is a big plus.* 5+ years of extensive experience with trouble-shooting and correcting breakdowns and failures.* 5+ years in process monitoring and optimization.* 5+ years experience supervising skilled trade&rsquo;s personnel.* Very good overall people management skills.* Solid communication skills, both verbal and written.* Robotic programming skills.* Welding and machining expertise.* HVAC knowledge.* Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs.* Basic PLC and HMI programming knowledge.* Possible weekend work and overtime required.Tesla Motors is committed to a policy of equal employment opportunity.
