We believe our operational infrastructure provides us with a competitive advantage compared to traditional automobile manufacturers.The RoleTesla Motors is looking for a Process Specialist to work on one of the most progressive vehicle brands in the world. This position requires a significant understanding of process optimization, so the ideal candidate will not only possess the technical acumen, but also the ability to provide review existing operations, identify and anticipate areas of improvement, and act on them as needed. This position is located at our Palo Alto Headquarters; however, the role will transition to our Fremont Factory in the summer of 2012 and may require travel as needed and directed by management. Responsibilities:• Analyze, design and optimize service processes to ensure safety while maximizing yield, capacity and capability in cost effective means while driving to achieve world-class service levels• Develop, modify, monitor and audit service processes to ensure service specifications and standards are achieved• Create and maintain operational method sheets, routing and associated processes• Assist Managers, Advisors and Technicians in updating local processes and making recommendations for improvement of processes• Maintain records of time, expenses and materials• Perform other related duties as assigned• Interface with vendors to ensure vendor processes align with Service processes• Effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines• Assist in the training of service employees as neededRequirements:• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or in a work related field/discipline• 1-3 years experience in the automotive industry• Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), preferred• Experience in working with various teams to pursue a broad range of improvement opportunitiesKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:• Methods, techniques, parts, tools and materials used in the maintenance and repair of vehicles including testing, diagnosis, HVAC service, hydraulic, brakes, testing and repair of electronic systems and modules• Capability of identifying critical process parameters and applying statistics to process measurement and control• Understanding of automotive equipment, servicing methods and ISO compliance• Skills related to process development/improvement, troubleshooting, data analysis, constraint analysis, flow optimization, etc.• Ability to training team members on process improvement techniques• MS Office Suite, including MS Visio• Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to follow instructions required• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including the public• Maintain and perform top level professional integrity and appearance_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Tesla Motors is committed to a policy of equal employment opportunity.
