RVS has been a technology development and manufacturing leader for 55 years and our product line includes focal plane arrays, sensor electronics including signal processing, integrated dewar assemblies and cryocoolers.Job Description:The qualified candidate will provide mechanical engineering design and drafting to the Mechanical Design department. Under general direction, perform mechanical design and some analysis, and will assist in the construction of infrared focal plane array packaging. Infrared focal plane array packaging may include but is not limited to designs for space based infrared modules, tactical vacuum dewars and uncooled vacuum packages. Assist the senior mechanical engineer in designing the product and tooling. Work closely with the manufacturing engineer to ensure that the product can be produced and will aid in the design of the necessary tools and equipment required to produce the product. Provide support in the procurement of the program mechanical, electrical and optical components and will work with the suppliers to ensure that the components meet the program technical, cost and schedule requirements. Assist with technical discussions with both internal and external customers. Will be expected to assist across the different necessary disciplines (electrical engineering, semi-conductor physics, optics, and manufacturing) to ensure the success of the program.This internship is full-time during the summer months only.Required Skills:*     0-2 years professional engineering experience.*     Sound knowledge of basic mechanical engineering, principles, theories, and concepts.*     Must have experience in working as a contributor to a design team.*     Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.Desired Skills:*     Basic electronics packaging design experience.*     Basic knowledge of cryogenic electronic packaging and cryogenic material properties.*     Working knowledge of ProE.*     Basic knowledge of high precision alignment and assembly techniques.*     Team player.*     Inquisitive and enthusiastic.Required Education:Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Science or Mathematics - Junior status required as of Fall 2012.Mechanical Engineering PreferredRaytheon Network Centric Systems (NCS), headquartered in McKinney, Texas, develops and produces mission solutions for networking, command and control, battlespace awareness, and air traffic management.
