JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for selecting suppliers, negotiating pricing and terms, awarding new business, exiting suppliers as necessary, risk management and so on. Provides guidance to and coordinates efforts with engineering, buyers, corporate purchasing, global sourcing, internal project teams, manufacturing and the Senior Purchasing Manager. Monitors cost, schedule, and performance of the supply base. Support and works on other projects as directed by the Senior Purchasing Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Sources, selects and awards businesses to international and domestic suppliers
Negotiates pricing and terms
Reports savings, project timelines and progress on sourcing activities
Conducts time studies and similar activities for project teams when necessary
Directs and coordinates sourcing activities with purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing, and other as necessary
Conducts search for new and developmental components, material, tooling and suppliers
Conducts make or buy studies at the direction of the Senior Purchasing Manager
Supports Compliance in ensuring all parts are done in proper alignment with the regulations of the US and other countries
Submits PNRs to CAD for new products
Creates and files project packets including supplier quotes, pricing/cost analysis, specifications, tooling, fixtures, FAIR data to support transition from R D to production
Updates monthly reports
Represents Purchasing in all project meetings as assigned by the Senior Purchasing Manager
Investigates invoice discrepancies and works with Accounts Payable on necessary changes for assigned suppliers.
Where practical, identifies areas of improvement and cost savings through a reduction of non-value added activities.
Assists the Senior Purchasing Manager or others on various special projects.
Represents Purchasing in various meetings.
Performs all other duties as assigned by the Senior Purchasing Manager.
Coaches others and demonstrates commitment to safety continual improvement of OHS performance, registered standards, company policy, integrity, ethics and legal compliance.
Minimum Requirements Knowledge/Skills/Experience/Education
5-7 years progressive experience in purchasing / logistics
International business/purchasing experience required
MRP Microsoft Office proficient
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Management skills, ability to direct work via direct and / or indirect reports
Understanding of manufacturing processes and concepts
Skills in various supply chain areas, such as purchasing, inventory, logistics, vendor management
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Experience/Education
CPM or CPIM certificate preferred
Bachelors degree preferred in business or other related field
Negotiation skills preferred
Second language bilingual preferred
Project Management skills desired
Lean / Six Sigma skills desired
