The ideal candidate needs to be creative and innovative in utilizing a variety of new and existing research methods. Experimenting with new methods of research and ideas to create additional value for our clients will be encouraged. The selected associate will be a part of a project team developing research to support alternative powertrain planning, in-vehicle technology development and new product concept research. The associate may also support marketing/launch research on these topics, such as electric or fuel cell vehicles and telematics products (e.g. Entune/Enform). Key clients will likely be: Advanced Technology Department, Advanced Product Strategy, Business Development Group, Product Planning Department, and Toyota Technical Center. Other clients may include Toyota/Scion Marketing, as well as other non-TMS North American affiliates.This position is responsible for designing, conducting, coordinating, analyzing and interpreting consumer research to support initiatives in the areas mentioned above.   General Research Responsibilities:* Project Management and Research Consultation* Next Generation Product Development Research, including exploratory and &quot;futures research&quot; approaches* Early Adopter and New Product Development Research* Marketing Launch Research* Presentation Development and Reporting* Design and field a wide range traditional and non-traditional quantitative research methodologies and techniques (e.g. mail/online/telephone, Delphi method, cluster analysis, factor analysis, conjoint, marketing clinics, etc.)* Design and conduct qualitative research (e.g. focus groups, ethnographies, 1-on-1 interviews, etc.), with special emphasis on identifying new techniques and third party suppliers who offer innovative and cost-effective research approaches to engage customers and capture their voice* Interpret and synthesize large amounts of quantitative data into actionable insights for clientsSpecific Research Topical Area Responsibilities:* The Strategic Research Consultant will be expected to develop research subject matter expertise over time in the following topical areas:* Alternative Powertrain Research (Primary Support)* In-Vehicle Technology (Primary)* Innovation in Research: new techniques and &quot;futures research&quot; approaches (Primary Support)* Future Product Concept Research (Ad Hoc Support)* Scion Research (Ad Hoc Support - New Product Concept Research Support)* General Ad Hoc Research RequestsThe successful candidate must have excellent project management skills and a general understanding of strategy development.
