At SpaceX we cut through the noise and believe in the essentials of hardcore engineering.We build it, test it, and fly it.The DepartmentStructures&ndash; Our Structures group is responsible for both primary and secondary structures, as well as tooling and machine design. We do both metallic and composite structural fabrication in-house. Most of what you actually see when looking at a launch vehicle or spacecraft is done by our Structures group. With mass and cost so closely correlated in the space business, our Structures group is constantly striving to develop the most efficient body structures ever created.The JobResponsibilitiesOur rapid growth has created opportunities for Test Technicians to join our Structures Division and support testing of materials for our Dragon spacecraft and launch vehicles Falcon 1 and Falcon 9. The SpaceX Structures Division operates a fully equipped testing laboratory utilizing Instron tensile test machines. Test technicians are responsible for executing and recording results of test procedures developed by SpaceX. Depending on experience and capability, Test Technicians will have undertake a variety of tasks including:* Working with design engineers to develop and document test procedures* Perform tests according to procedure* Maintaining database of test results* Designing fixtures and adaptors needed to perform tests Requirements* Minimum 3 years experience in a laboratory or other hands on technical position* Ability to understand and implement ASTM standards* Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings* Ability to visualize 3D objects based on 2D drawings* Comfortable using hand tools and small power tools* Ability to use Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, PowerPoint)* Extremely detail oriented and organized* Ability to lift 40 lbsSpaceX offers one of the best environments in the world for employees to learn, build real working systems and tackle exciting challenges every day.
