The MPS Mechanic repairs and maintains machinery andmechanical equipment such as motors, pneumatic controls, conveyorsystems, and field packaging machines and equipment by performing thefollowing duties.RESPONSIBILITIES:Must be able to work safely and maintain housekeeping standards.Observes mechanical devices in operation and identify causes ofproblems. Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defectiveparts. Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments. Repairs orreplaces defective parts. Installs special functional and structuralparts in devices. Lubricates and cleans parts. Starts devices to testtheir performance. Sets up and operates drill press, grinder, and othermetalworking tools to make and repair parts. Must have understanding ofelectrical blueprints, PLC and troubleshooting of electrical components.Initiates parts requests for machines. Has minimal customer contact atfield locations, must be able to communicate and coordinate machineneeds. Requires minimal contact with sales peopleQUALIFICATIONS:Five or more years of maintenance experience in a manufacturingenvironment with proven skills in the areas of electrical, PLC, andcomputer-controlled equipment. Corrugated industry experiencepreferred. Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance methods.Strong mechanical knowledge of manufacturing processes. Ability toidentify root cause of problems and effectively initiate immediatecorrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
