JOB SUMMARY:

or his/her designee
As Equipment Inspector, perform refurbishment
initial, in-process and final inspections on
military equipment.
Inspect vehicles and equipment to assure
required repairs, both mechanical and cosmetic are
completed.
Interpret and understand technical manuals and
other documentation to independently diagnose and
troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic
faults to complete repairs.
Work with and have general knowledge of shop
procedures as they relate to the maintenance and
refurbishment upgrade of various military
equipment and systems.
Responsible for ensuring replacement parts are
correctly identified and requested.
Document supply and maintenance repair actions
on military, manual or commercial computer
systems.
Responsible for ensuring refurbishment
procedures are accurately followed and documented.
Responsible for quality assurance of all work
performed.
Assist Shop Supervisor in development of
strategies to enhance production levels.
Resolve personnel issues regarding safety and
discipline with a sense of urgency.
Will possibly act as Shop Supervisor during his
absence.
Keep Shop Supervisor apprised of all situations.
Lead junior mechanics and helpers in the
accomplishment of repair tasks.
Assist in other requirements/responsibilities as
directed by Shop Supervisor.
Qualifications Required
EDUCATION
High School graduate or equivalent or be a
recent graduate of military, commercial or
vocational automotive mechanical school.
A minimum of 5 years experience performing
directly related activities.
Physical ability to perform the job while
standing for long periods of time.
Must be able to lift no less than 50 pounds
unassisted.
Ability to perform assigned tasks with a minimum
of supervision.
Must be capable of working in a team environment
with on-site personnel, customers, engineers and
other individuals to complete assignments.
Highly knowledgeable of power tools, specialty
tools, common tools and equipment required to make
repairs/up-grades.
Must be an effective communicator to maintain
continuous liaison with supported activities.
Extensive inspection/repair background in Army
ground equipment.
Must be capable of obtaining a Class A,
Commercial Drivers License within 180 days.
