San Diego CAFunctional Area ResearchTherapeutic/Disease Area OncologyJob Type Full TimeEmployment Type RegularJob Description A research investigator position is offered at the Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation (GNF) in the Drug Discovery group for Oncology. GNF is a world renowned leader in the development of enabling technologies for the advancement of science. The candidate will utilize a variety of GNFs technologies to identify novel regulators of anti-tumor immune responses. The successful candidate will play an important role in existing drug discovery projects and in initiating new lead discovery projects targeting established and novel molecular pathways. Responsibilities will include supervising associates, developing and optimizing biochemical or cell-based assays for hit identification and lead optimization, profiling SAR medchem compounds and/or biological therapeutics in primary and secondary in vitro assays for lead optimization, and providing project leadership from hit-to-lead to preclinical candidate selection by coordinating efforts with multi-disciplinary groups including medicinal chemistry, protein sciences, and in vivo pharmacology. This position requires a detailed knowledge of cutting-edge molecular and cellular techniques and an ability to excel in a goal-oriented, multifaceted and fast-moving environment. The candidate must have experience with tumor immunology techniques and a detailed understanding of the pathophysiology of the anti-tumor immune response. Experience with analysis of bioinformatics data sets is highly desirable.Minimum requirements The ideal candidates for this position should be highly motivated, have a Ph.D., M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degrees with 3+ years of experience and a strong background in immunology or cancer biology, evident by peer-reviewed publications in reputable journals.
