Specifications are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.To oversee the operations and activities of community recreation buildings and parks, and to coordinate with citizen groups, businesses, and others regarding facility usage.Key Responsibilities:The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.Duties may include but are not limited to, the following:* Plan, organize, staff, direct and control the activities of a multi-purpose Community Center, Recreation Center buildings, and parks.* Represent the City and provide liaison with citizen groups, businesses, and public agencies interested in the use of community buildings and parks.* Process Use of Facilities contracts.* Supervise staff in the scheduling of facilities; coordinate custodial services for assigned facilities.* Assist in developing and implementing marketing strategies for community buildings and parks.* Prepare a variety of promotional materials to effectively market programs.* Recommend acquisition of supplies and equipment necessary to support functions of recreation buildings and parks.* Prepare revenue and activity reports, credit card reports and bank deposits. Assist with administrative functions of the Department including, but not limited to registration duties, accounts payable, payroll, and provide customer service response.* Assist in the development and administration of the annual budget for the Facilities Division; forecast funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; recommend adjustments as necessary.* Identify and make recommendations on safety hazards, maintenance and repairs on facilities and equipment within assigned sections.* Research and respond to inquiries and complaints regarding recreation facilities.* Manage emergency shelter operations during a disaster.* Perform related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:Education/Training:Two years of experience in public relations, contract administration, marketing, public administration, or a related field.Education:Equivalent to a Bachelor&rsquo;s degree from an accredited college or university with major work in recreation, business, marketing, communications, public administration or a related field.License or Certificate:Possession of a valid California Driver&rsquo;s License.Examination Process:Interested applicants must submit an online application and supplemental questionnaire. This position is open until the needs of the City are met so apply immediately. Candidates whose qualifications most closely meet the needs of the City will be invited to participate in the examination process for this position. The examination process will consist of an appraisal interview for those candidates selected to move forward in the process. The appraisal interview is tentatively schedule for the week of December 3, 2012. NOTE: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment medical evaluation and background investigation.
