Coordinates the registration process for patients of all reimbursement types. Verifies patient insurance eligibility and benefits by contacting commercial and government payers Responsible for assisting the patient by explaining insurance eligibility status and benefits. The job requires knowledge of health insurance networks, exceptional communication, interpersonal skills and efficiency. All activities must be conducted in a confidential, professional, and personable manner. Performs other duties as needed. ***Job Specifications -  High school diploma or GED required. Medical terminology preferred. Minimum one year healthcare experience in an ambulatory or managed care setting and knowledge of healthcare insurance company practices required. Knowledge of ICD and CPT codes preferred. Requires ability to work flexible hours, as needed. Requires efficient use of multiple-line telephone, computer, keyboard-30 wpm required, mouse, and fax machine. Requires good oral and written communication skills and very customer oriented, communicates distinctly in person and on the telephone. Requires ability to work independently, thinks intelligently, capable of work prioritization and comprehends verbal and written instructions and learn quickly. Bilingual *English/Spanish* preferred. Requires adequate visual, hearing, olfactory and tactile acuity to proficiently perform essential duties, ability to see and read written and/or online communications, hear in person and on the phone, view a computer monitor for extended periods of time, smell and touch to identify potential hazards.
