<tr><td valign="top" width="450"><b>Behavioral Health Program Specialist SCAN Health Plan« Back to Search FormDetailsLocation: CA - Long Beach Job Type: Health CareBase Pay: N/A Required Education: Not SpecifiedBonus: Required Experience: Not SpecifiedOther: Required Travel: Not SpecifiedEmployee Type: Full-Time Relocation Covered: Not SpecifiedIndustry Healthcare - Health Services, Social Services, Managed Care Job ID: 12-804 DescriptionJOB PURPOSE:To provide insight, guidance, and leadership in developing and maintaining a behavioral health and substance abuse program that meets members? needs and is compliant with federal and state regulations/ standards.To implement and maintain systems that enable SCAN to coordinate medical and behavioral health for its members by working closely with SCAN case management, medical directors, network management, the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, and network providers of mental health and substance abuse services (including Behavioral Health Management Organizations).To develop and maintain relationships with network providers and community agencies that drive the effectiveness of behavioral health management programs to meet organizational strategic and operational objectives.ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS:Facilitate coordination of medical and behavioral health care, appropriate utilization and the timely delivery of quality care and services for SCAN members by acting as a consultant to and collaborating with providers, to ensure understanding and delivery of behavioral health benefits and resources.Sustain operations that support compliance with state and federal regulations/standards regarding behavioral health and substance abuse services by performing a gap analysis and recommending system improvements.Identify opportunities for improvement by assessing and evaluating the provider groups? behavioral health programs then working directly with provider groups in setting and reaching goals for continuous improvement in quality, service and cost-effective care.Assess, evaluate and analyze utilization patterns and high cost complex admissions, streamline appropriate discharge parameters and create preventative steerage processes with physician groups in order to facilitate future admissions to the most appropriate facilities.Assess Behavioral Health access and management of medical groups.Enhance the program by assessing and analyzing the need for education then creating and providing in-services for all network healthcare providers and SCAN personnel.Provide timely and relevant data/reports to key community stakeholders in order to assist them in making informed decisions in the areas of cost trends, efficiency management, and quality outcomes by collaborating with SCAN health care analysts.Act as a behavioral health resource for SCAN?s staff, providers, and members by developing and expanding relationships with staff, providers, county mental health organizations, and by participating in member activities as appropriate.Foster members? awareness of behavioral health and substance abuse programs available to them by working closely with other SCAN departments in creating a strategy for disseminating information.Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.RequirementsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor''s Degree required.Master''s Degree preferred.RN, MFT, or LCSW required.Experience in SCAN CA Service Area.License and Certification: Active California license in good standing, Certificate in Behavioral Health a plus.Experience with Gero-Psych, Substance Abuse, inpatient and outpatient behavioral health care, required. Experience coordinating with county mental health, preferred.Five years clinical experience, preferably in behavioral health/substance abuse setting.Two years'' experience as administr
