Responsible for performing all aspects of engineering and design. Works under minimal supervision, work is reviewed for adequacy on completion. May provide some technical guidance to less experienced design and engineering personnel. Researches, develops, designs, and tests a variety of equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial and industrial purposes. Evaluates the desired goal of the system and develops, designs, or selects the required equipment, power controls, piping, structures and earthwork to achieve the goal: Performs calculations and evaluations in the design of equipment and systems for industrial and commercial applications: Participates in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling for assigned projects: Directs activities to ensure that construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications, recognized codes and standards, and customer requirements: Maintains effective communication with project team members and with the customer: May direct and coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations: May use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering task. Will assist a Lead Mechanical Engineer on a Project in the design/evaluation of mechanical equipment per applicable codes. Deal with new equipment design, and modification or repair of existing equipment. Prepare spec, data sheet, drawing, requisition, bid evaluation. Review vendor data/drawings. Coordinate with other disciplines. Equipment may include such equipment as heat exchangers, heaters, vessels, vessel internals, with emphasis on rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, fans and turbine/motor drives10 years of rotating equipment experience required, BS or MS in an engineering discipline, PE registration desirable Must have good written and oral communication skills. Must be computer literate. California EIT desirable
