As a paid staff member, you will support our loyal Red Cross disaster volunteers who serve selflessly to provide a bridge of assistance until individuals and families can resume a normal life.Our disaster volunteers are the heart and soul of our mission to respond to emergencies and provide relief to victims of disasters. They serve in a number of capacities, including Disaster Action Team Member, Disaster Assessment, Caseworker, Mass Care Feeding, Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) Driver, Shelter Manager/Staff, Disaster Health Services and Disaster Mental Health.Position SummaryAssigned to a specific geography of the Region and responsible for the development and management of Region volunteers within the Disaster Services program. Responsible for working closely with the Region's Volunteer Services department in creating an effective transition for all Disaster Volunteers from the process of initial application and entry into the Red Cross as a general volunteer to Disaster Services membership and career development within Disaster Services. Responsible for entering, tracking, coordinating and validating data within all systems supporting volunteer data. Reporting to the Personnel Manager and working with the Training Supervisor, advise and provide career counseling to volunteers and employees regarding promotional tracks, training opportunities, informational updates, and functional changes. Serves as the primary staffing resource for fulfillment of DR recruitment requests received by the Region, all DAT staffing needs for the assigned geography and as the primary staffing resource for large scale events within the Region. Working with the Personnel Manager, supports and may direct the Region's Review Board.Major ResponsibilitiesVolunteer Development and Management* Responsible for fostering an environment of volunteerism and volunteer empowerment.* Work in collaboration with Disaster Services Chairs and the Volunteer Services department to ensure quality volunteer recruitment and retention.* Work in collaboration with Disaster Services Chairs to create engaging environments for volunteer development. This includes support of monthly meetings.* Actively participate in recruiting efforts through Volunteer Services for new volunteers and in retention efforts for existing personnel.* Ensure readiness of volunteers and employees for emergency and disaster response.* Work in collaboration with Training Coordinator to provide the training necessary for targeted promotions of assigned staff & volunteers.* Counsels volunteers and employees regarding career development and member. Prepares letters of recommendation for career advancement as defined by guidelines.* Provides initial support in consultation with Personnel Manager for volunteers and employees addressing problems and concerns.Staffing* Process all changes and additions to the DSHR records, maintaining appropriate confidentiality. Notify members of change status changes. Assure that copies of file changes and additions are integrated into Volunteer Services master files.* Attend various volunteer gatherings/meetings to promote and represent Disaster Services.* Responsible for DAT Staffing needs of the respective geography.* May serve as lead for DAT Staffing for the Region.* Responsible for Staffing of incidents larger than DAT.* Serve as on call personnel for Staffing.* Orders and distributes apparel as members are eligible and maintain appropriate records.* Under the direction of the Personnel Manager, coordinates award recommendations and nominations of Disaster Services volunteers and employees to Volunteer Ser
