The Getty Arts Journalism Program at the USC Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism is seeking a significant Program Specialist to join its team.The Program Specialist will assist the associate professor and director of the Master''s in Specialized Journalism (MSJ) Program by managing the MSJ budget, website, electives catalog and spearheading some recruitment efforts. Budget/program management for the USC Getty Arts Journalism Program are central responsibilities. Familiarity with web design, marketing, PR, grant writing and event planning are essential. We are looking for a thinker, a visionary who has ambition and the willingness to roll up his/her sleeves and work hard at some of the less stimlulating tasks, knowing that there is a possiblilty to climb up within the job (dependent upon additional grant funding).Job Accountabilities:* Assists in program management with administrative functions covering planning, budgeting, proposal development, and marketing or program services.* Researches and identifies client or beneficiary needs and recommends program modifications or creation of new programs and services. Assists in the design and delivery of programs, services and special events.* Tests and evaluates the effectiveness of existing program content and services. Recommends and implements modifications as necessary to ensure achievement of program goals and objectives.* Provides leadership, guidance and supervision to staff, student workers, volunteers, and/or graduate assistants. Leads others in the planning and delivery of services, activities and special events.* Interfaces with faculty, researchers and staff for committee work or information exchange regarding program services or content.* Participates in the development and implementation of program policies and procedures.* Provides historical data and projections for use in developing program budgets. May directly control a portion of the total program budget or assist with overall budget administration. Must have complete respect for fiscal responsibility.* Researches the market and develops marketing strategies to promote program. Creates information materials and plans activities and events to support marketing strategies.* Coordinates program services with other offices and staff on campus. Serves as a resource for program information.* Stays informed of developments in field. Reads pertinent literature, attends meetings and participates in professional associations as appropriate. Establishes and maintains an active network of professional contacts.A journalist conversant in The Arts & Culture and current thinking & innovation in journalism is preferred.
