In addition, the QMS will facilitate the timely correction of documentation errors, communication to the care delivery team, and process improvement activities. The QMS will perform the following: General Duties-Assist Department Chairs, Div. Chiefs, Quality Improvement faculty or Dept/Div. Administrators in special projects assigned on an ad hoc basis.Act as an ongoing resource to administration and faculty relative to quality improvement and utilization management policies and procedures and changes therein from the Joint Commission.Represent the Dept. and its Performance Improvement/Quality Assessment efforts with other Clinical Departments, the Medical Center and the Dept. of Nursing.Quality Assessment and Improvement PlanIncorporate the patient care and fiscal needs of the Medical Center, while reflecting the general guidelines of the Joint Commission, Title 22 and CMS Conditions of Participation in development of the QI plan.Identify high volume/high acuity, high risk populations for focus of PI activities.Collaborate with Dept. Chair, Div Chiefs, and Service Chiefs to develop process and outcome monitors appropriate for service.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to initiate pertinent interdisciplinary studies.Include new program evaluation in PI plan if applicable.Communicate results to Dept. Chair, Div. Chiefs, Div. Faculty and other disciplines as needed.Clinical Quality and Peer ReviewReview cases from Mortality and Morbidity reports, Risk Management, Utilization Review, Event Reports and other referrals to determine if Quality of Care issues exist.Extract meaningful data from chart to formulate case summary, identify intervening factors that affect health care delivery.Facilitate physician case review and scoring for peer review.Maintain Peer Review database for the Dept. and Division.Collaborate with Management Information Systems to develop effective monthly reports and acquire pertinent data for use in PI and in ongoing research.Hospital Performance Improvement Projects/Core Measures-Implement studies/projects with appropriate members of health care team.Design methodology for studies/projects as indicated; consult with content experts as needed.Collect data or coordinate data collection for projects as needed.Communicate with involved parties regarding the project process as needed.Coordinate statistical analysis and interpret data.Communicate information to involved health care team members as appropriate.Conduct concurrent reviews and assure appropriate interventions occur.Provide care delivery team education related to improvments in patient care and clinical documentation Job Qualifications: California RN required, BSN strongly preferred. 3 years RN experience in acute care hospital setting preferred. Trained and proficient in Core measure abstraction strongly preferred.Strong knowledge of PDCA methodology,core measures,peer review and process improvement preferred.
