The Specialist demonstrates advanced knowledge in psychiatric nursing practice and assumes the roles of practitioner, educator, supervisor, consultant, and researcher. The Specialist demonstrates a high degree of professional competence in a specialized field of nursing and utilizes advanced theoretical and empiric and a scientific approach to problem solviing. The Specialist establishes standards for patient care and evaluates interventions to improve care. Emphasis on specific role components is dependent upon the patient population and the clinical and administrative functions/needs of the unit, Department of Nursing and UCLA Health System. Job Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Current licensure as a Registered Nursing in the State of California. Masters Degree prepared in Nursing with NP specialty required, with 3-5 years of recent clinical experience in area of specialization, Adult Psych Unit.
