JOB SUMMARY:

The Defense Microelectronics Activity (DMEA) is a Department of Defense Laboratory located in Sacramento, CA, which reports directly to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering. DMEA is composed of specialized microelectronics engineers and support staff working in close partnership with the major defense contractors and the semiconductor industry to rapidly develop advanced technology applications for the warfighter. DMEA's microelectronics specialists produce solutions that support critical active military operations. DMEA's research activities advance microelectronics technologies to support current and future warfighter needs. DMEA's advanced laboratory facilities and a unique flexible semiconductor foundry enable DMEA's professional team to provide trusted high mix, low volume microelectronics. DMEA's small size, responsiveness to customers' needs, and interaction with both the semi conductor and defense industries, make it an exciting andprofessionally challenging career choice.

About the Position:

Salary Range:
Salary Range includes Locality and/or applicable Special Salary Rates. Applicable salary rate is determined based on the job series for which the candidate qualifies:

Series GS-0854 Computer Engineer: $33,856 - $44,018
All other Series: $36,021 - $44,337

Position(s) will be filled under the Department of Defense Recent Graduates Program.

The Department of Defense Recent Graduates Program affords developmental experiences in the Department of Defense intended to promote possible careers in the civil service to individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs. Successful applicants are placed in a dynamic, developmental program with the potential to lead to a civil service career in the Federal Government.

After Program completion, Department of Defense Recent Graduates MAY be converted to a permanent position.

To be eligible for conversion to a permanent or term position, Recent Graduates must:

  • Successfully completed at least 1-year of continuous service in addition to all requirements of the Program.
  • Demonstrate successful job performance.
  • Meet the Office of Personnel Management’s qualifications for the position to which the Recent Graduate will be converted

Department of Defense Recent Graduates Program Eligibles

Positions are open to:

  • Recent graduates who have completed, within the previous two years, a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution.
  • Veterans unable to apply within two years of receiving their degree, due to military service obligation, have as much as six years after degree completion to apply.
