The company employs approximately 91,000 people and markets its products in more than 130 countries.Job Description This mechanical engineer will be focused on sustaining engineering programs for a well established, FDA controlled medical device to include new requirements for environmental and country specific compliances needed to be addressed thru redesign, documentation updates and compliance tests.PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION:Provides support to the Manufacturing organization to facilitate efficient operations within the production areato optimize existing processes, and ensure that production goals are met. Develops and/or monitors performance of components of medical devices and corrects equipment problems or process parameters that produce non-conforming products, low yields, or product quality issues from a software development perspective. Interfaces with Quality and R&D organizations to integrate new components and/or processes into the existing manufacturing environment.CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.1. Supports development management of complex medical equipment utilizing both technical and equipmentengineering leadership.2. Responsible for designing and developing relevant solution applications.3. Responsible for troubleshooting equipment at system level.4. Helps drive development best practices.5. May interface with customers (suppliers/subcontractors and medical professionals) to define and supportdevelopment requirements.POSITION ACCOUNTABILITY / SCOPE:Establishes and cultivates a network of cross-functional support to facilitate completion of assignments. Participates in determining goals and objectives for projects from an operations engineering perspective. Influences middle management on technical or business solutions. May interact with vendors. (Planning/Organization) Plans and organizes non-routine tasks w/approval. Initiates or maintains work schedule. Establishes priorities of work assignments. (Decision Making/Impact) Exercises judgment in selecting innovative, practical methods to achieve problem resolution. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources.Skills/Experience Requirements Basic Qualifications:1. Experience designing and documenting according to design control procedures.2. Ability to rapidly gain an understanding of the application domain (ophthalmic surgery) in order to contributefeature/design suggestions to subsequent generation products.3. Ability to operate and troubleshoot on system equipment.4. Ability to work on a cross-functional team which may include hardware engineers, operations engineers,and software quality engineers.Preferred Qualifications:1. Experience in SolidWorks and PDM software.2. Familiar with ECO processes and Agile software.3. Experience working in a regulated or medical device cGMP manufacturing environment highly desired.Education Requirements Bachelor''s degree plus 3-5 years of related work experience with a strong understanding of software engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
