The work primarily supports NASA missions but may include terrestrial applications.The applicant must have knowledge and/or experience in a majority of the following areas:-Designing, assembling, and operating gas flow systems (pressurized gases, piping, fittings, valves, etc.). Troubleshooting flow and measurement systems.-Measurement and instrumentation, including air flow, temperature, pressure, chemical composition, composition of mixed gas streams, humidity/dewpoint/frostpoint.-Data acquisition and control, preferably using National Instruments hardware and Labview software-Gaseous and gas-solid reacting flow systems, specifically membrane humidification/dehumidification, packed bed reactors, zeolites, molecular sieves, activated carbons and desiccants.-Ability to communicate rationale, methods, and results to technical and managerial audiences verbally, in writing and via presentation.-Willingness to learn any of the above not already mastered.Support may also include the following activities: performance of fundamental experiments; fundamental research and development of experimental hardware and data acquisition systems; compilation and summarizing of data; report writing; preparation of orders and procurement of equipment, supplies, and other needs; and library and literature surveying. Additionally, laboratory safety, maintenance, and organization activities are expected.Qualifications:This position requires at least two (2) years experience and a B.S. (or equivalent) degree in chemical/mechanical engineering, or similar degree.
