Position Summary
This Postdoctoral Fellow position will augment the teaching and
research capabilities of the institute in cyber security and help
develop its Cyber Security Initiative under the guidance of the
Office of the Provost. The goal of the Cyber Security Initiative is
to improve integration across the policy and technical aspects of
the cyber domain. This is a one-year, full time staff position.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
During a year in residence at the Monterey Institute, the Fellow
will be responsible for the following activities/tasks
Teach at least one course or workshop on cyber security
issues
Conduct publishable research in cyber security policy
Organize a cyber-security speaker series that the Fellow will
develop into a possible publication opportunity
Develop, with input from other stakeholders in our
community, a plan for the Institute to establish a cyber-security
research and academic program
Perform other related duties as requested
Qualifications
Education
Candidates applying for the fellowship must have
An earned doctorate degree involving research on cyber
security, information assurance, information technology IT,
computer science, digital forensics, homeland security or related
topics in national or international security policy
Strong research, analytic and communication skills
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong professional knowledge of cyber security theory, practice,
and policy
Excellent writing and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively
Experience with program development
Experience
In addition, demonstrated experience in cyber security,
information assurance and/or related fields is a plus.
Candidates with strong publication records and some teaching
experience are preferred.
Physical Demands
The Monterey Institute maintains a drug-free and smoke-free
workplace. Essential job functions require ability to sit for
extended periods of time, sight and dexterity to work at
computer on a regular and frequent basis, ability to climb and
descend stairs. Indoor work environment.
