As a Systems Administrator at Google, you own and support the needs of one of Google''s server infrastructure systems. You''re highly technical and work directly with other server and service owners to ensure reliability and sustainability of the Google service infrastructure as well as compliance with internal policies. Googlers rely on your guidance when it comes to design decisions so you''ll have a direct impact in keeping the business productive.As an Application Systems Administrator, aka Apps Admin, you will be responsible for IT management of critical physical security infrastructure globally. The role requires debugging and resolving both client and server side issues for large geographically distributed systems. Apps Admins are expected to build a deep knowledge of both the physical security domain and how our applications are used and configured. You are the first line of defence against spurious application issues and are expected to determine how best to tackle app, OS, database, network and specialized hardware issues. Your knowledge will be leveraged to help determine how best to implement new features/customizations. You will also play a role in the integration of physical security applications and the selection of next generation tools, including prototyping and vendor/technology selection.Responsibilities:* Frontline support & maintenance of physical security systems and applications* Use and administer physical security systems and serve as go-to resource for physical security application functionality.* Debug and resolve application issues for both clients and servers with a variety of OS combinations (Linux, Windows, Mac)* Apply patches & perform upgrades to a distributed network of client and/or server machines.* Automate patch application, hotfixes, and custom functionality using scripts and packaging tools.Minimum qualifications:* BA/BS degree and/or relevant experience (In lieu of degree, 4 years of relevant work experience)* 4 years implementing, configuring and integrating 3rd-party software solutions.* Strong customer service, organizational, prioritization, multitasking, communication, and leadership skills.Preferred qualifications:* Hands on experience with Physical Security systems, including access control, digital surveillance and/or identity management solutions.* Support experience with various operating systems (Linux/Mac/Windows) in the context of both clients and servers.* Understanding of LAN/WAN and mobile computing environments
