We provide those answers by working at the crossroads of the law and new technology, helping Google build innovative and important products for users around the world.The role: Ethics and Compliance Counsel, Data Security and Privacy ComplianceAs Ethics and Compliance Counsel (Data Security and Privacy Compliance), you''ll play a key role in Google''s compliance with security and privacy requirements regarding all forms of regulated data, including personal information. These would include compliance requirements regarding the collection, processing, storage, disclosure, and disposal of user data, employee data, and other types of data. You''ll be expected to work closely with legal subject matter experts, and also cross-functionally with business and other stakeholders, to support an effective program. As a member of the Ethics and Compliance team, you''ll also participate in Google''s code of conduct and other company - wide ethics and compliance activities. Among your many attributes, you communicate clearly and display excellent ethical judgment. You''ll also have excellent people skills, and be self-motivated and a self-starter.Responsibilities:* Participate in establishing and maintaining data compliance programs.* Provide legal advice in connection with data protection requirements.* Provide advice with regard to data incidence.* Work with regional offices, counsel, and security staff to implement training and awareness regarding internal security and privacy requirements.* Participate in Google''s code of conduct and other company-wide ethics and compliance activities, training, and answering ethics and compliance related queries, and investigating allegations of ethics and compliance related employee misconduct.Minimum Qualifications:* Juris Doctorate (JD) degree.* Must be active and in good standing in at least one State Bar in the United States.* 3 years of related experience.Preferred Qualifications:* Experience and familiarity with regulatory and privacy sector data compliance requirements, including PCI, GLBA, FISMA, EU data protection requirements, and state privacy / security laws.* Experience and familiarity with requirements regarding handling employee data.* Experience in designing and implementing compliance programs; demonstrated project management skills.* First-rate written and verbal communication skills.* In-house compliance experience.
