You will have the opportunity to participate in a team defining the capabilities of a product from its very inception. Working in a cross functional team you will participate in design, analysis, prototyping and manufacturing. Good communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to ensure the successful integration of the various components. A deep understanding of mechanical design and analysis and knowledge of sophisticated materials and manufacturing techniques are needed. You will interface with vendors and outside sources and will perform analysis for manufacturability. With your technical expertise, you lead and manage projects, develop product and process improvements, provide consultation to others and help facilitate training and development.Responsibilities:* Design, build and test new hardware within a fast-paced engineering group.* Optimize mechanical designs for size, weight, and durability.* Prototype mechanical designs using rapid prototyping technology.* Integrate mechanical designs with electrical systems.* Develop and maintain strong functional relationships across multidisciplinary teams to anticipate future design requirements and interfaces.Minimum qualifications:* BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field (In lieu of degree, 4 years relevant work experience).* 7 years experience, consumer electronics product development.* Experience with high volume, highly cosmetic electronics enclosure materials.* Product validation experience (UL, shock/drop, environmental testing, etc.)Preferred qualifications:* MS in Mechanical Engineering.* Strong 3D CAD skills (Experience with SolidWorks).* Demonstrated project leadership and mentoring skills.* Hands-on experience with shop tools and prototyping.
