<tr><td valign="top" width="450"><b>TURRET LATHE SET-UP OPERATOR SPECIALISTTracking Code175859-950Job DescriptionCompletely and independently sets up and operates turret lathes to perform series of highly complex and advanced machining operations such as turning, boring, threading, and facing, on metal work pieces such as castings, forgings, and bar stock by performing the following duties.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:* Reads blueprint, job order, tooling instructions, and standard charts for such specifications as dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions such as type of holding fixtures, cutting speeds, feed rates, and cutting tools to be used.* Positions and secures tools in tool holders on turret and cross slide.* Moves controls to set specified rotation speeds, feed rates, and depth of cuts.* Positions and secures work piece in chuck or to faceplate.* Indexes turret and adjusts positions of tools at each station in relation to work piece to assure clearance between moving parts and machining of specified dimensions and tolerances.* Observes operation and indexes turret between operations.* Verifies conformance of machined work pieces to specifications.* Turns valve and directs flow of coolant against tool and work piece.* Computes such data as dimensions, rotation speeds, feed rates, and machining times.* Trains other Turret Lathe operators in setups and machine operations.Required Experience* Associates degree (A. A.) from four-year college or university; Certification from Trade School or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.* Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
