Marketing Communications Specialist
Part-time, Non-Exempt
Mills College is recruiting for a Marketing Communications
Specialist, a part-time 20-30 hour per week position.
Representative Duties
Fact-check, copy-edit, and proofread all marketing materials
print and online and manage the Colleges editorial style guide

Manage the digital asset management library, including
uploading and tagging images, organizing photo releases, and
responding to photo requests 15%
Manage fact database for updating print publications, web
pages, and guidebooks 10%
Process and maintain digital art files for all published materials
using programs such as Quark, InDesign, and Adobe Acrobat
10%
Edit webpages in OmniUpdate 10%
Organize press clippings and produce Mills Media Highlights
coverage publication 5%
Establish and maintain effective and productive working
relationships within a diverse and multicultural environment
Establish and maintain an effective customer service
orientation towards all persons contacted during the course of
job performance
Perform related duties as needed
Minimum Requirements
Must have knowledge of
English grammar, usage, spelling, and punctuation.
Proofreading and copyediting techniques.
Chicago Manual of Style, or comparable editorial style guides.
Exceptional skills in Microsoft Office and database
management on both a PC and a Mac. Familiarity with web
content management systems and Adobe Creative Suite
software, including Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, and Illustrator, a
strong plus.
Working knowledge of design and production processes
desirable.
Must have the ability to
Copyedit and proofread marketing communications copy for a
variety of media adhering to Mills style guidelines with a high
degree of accuracy and consistency.
Review all print and online marketing materials for accuracy,
spelling, language usage, grammar, and consistency.
Write marketing communications copy for various marketing
materials as needed.
Manage the departments digital asset management library,
including uploading and tagging images.
Manage the departments fact database and photo/video
release forms.
Update web pages in the Colleges content management
system OmniUpdate.
Organize press clippings and work with media relations team
to create clipbook.
Process and maintain digital art files for all published materials
using programs such as Quark, InDesign, and Adobe Acrobat on
PC and Macintosh systems.
Provide administrative support to marketing and media
relations teams as needed.
Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail. Work with internal
clients to obtain and verify information as detailed in various
publications, demonstrating a high level of resourcefulness and
follow through, making connections between various projects to
leverage information.
Prioritize and multitask multiple assignments in a fast-paced
work environment using strong organization skills.
Establish and maintain effective and productive working
relationships within a diverse and multicultural environment.
Establish and maintain an effective customer service
orientation towards all persons contacted during the course of
job performance.
