<tr><td valign="top" width="450"><b>Kelly Scientific currently has an exciting opening for a experienced R&D Food Technologist with a well renowned food product development company in the Orange County Area.This is a temporary position (Possible temp-to-hire)Salary: DOEPOSITION OVERVIEW This position is responsible for developing the manufacturing processes and recipes of food products. Work on existing and newly discovered ingredients and technologies to invent new recipes and concepts and modify foods to create new products. Conduct tests to determine the physical or chemical properties of food or beverages to ensure compliance with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations regarding color, texture, and nutrients.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS* Modifying existing products and processes and developing new ones* Checking and improving quality control procedures from the raw material stage through to the finished product;* Researching current consumer markets and latest technologies to develop new product concepts;* Selecting raw materials and other ingredients from suppliers* Addressing issues of safety and quality.* Carrying out process support and development, new product development, and quality control* Developing the ability to repeat processes to ensure consistency and safety* Collaborating with technical and commercial colleagues in procurement, sales and technical services, and marketing and distribution, and also with official food inspection and hygiene agencies * Conduct bench-top screening experiments with selected functional ingredients evaluating the sensory impact/boundaries in various product systems.* Completing formulation work to ensure flavor & functional ingredient compatibility.* Develop plans and conduct sensory optimization with functional ingredients.* Completing scale-up from bench to pilot plant.* Executing initial consumer testing evaluation of scale-up products working with Sensory team.* Working with cross-functional partners (Quality, Purchasing, Sales) to develop and manage project timelines to meet business objectives.QUALIFICATIONS* B.S. or M.S. in Food Science or related discipline* 4 years product design experience in a consumer products company * Experience in product development and hands on bench work. * Must have formulation plant trial experience* Outstanding teamwork and communication skills.
