control procedures that impact equipment, product,
and patient test results in the transfusion
service.Supervise and ensure the routine
maintenance and timely repair of equipment.
Validate performance of equipment upon acquisition
and after maintenance, repair and relocation per
guidelines.Perform reviews of test results and QC
performed by Scientists and Hospital Laboratory
Technicians in Transfusion Service and from other
blood bank sites. Investigate and document
inadequacies, errors, omissions, etc., counsel
staff and inform supervisors, or determine whether
appropriate follow-up has been taken.Develop and
write new QC procedures, and revise existing QC
and other procedures and forms as needed. Train
staff and residents on QC theory and
procedures.Meet with medical director and/or
senior supervisor on a regular basis to review all
QC and equipment tasks that have been performed.
Discuss issues/problems that have been
investigated and appropriate corrective action had
been taken or is underway.Assist with continued
smooth operation of the Blood Bank and adequate
response to patient needs by performing CLS and
HLT duties as needed / assigned.Perform
training/retraining of all QC and Equipment
maintenance procedures.Evaluate Transfusion
service needs for new and replacement equipment,
research products, secure bids and make
