work of the attending faculty and surgical
residents to care for patients admitted to General
Surgery, Bariatric, and Hepatobiliary Service. All
activity will be performed as a part of the
physician team and under direct or indirect
supervision of a physician. Full assumption of
these responsibilities will follow a training
period of two months during which time the
employee will be monitored by the faculty
physician supervisor to whom he or she will report
in order to determine that knowledge and skills
have reached the appropriate level.The incumbent
will serve as a high level professional whose
activities will span the interface between the
physicians and primary nurses who manage General
Surgery patients at Moffitt-Long Medical Center,
UCSF. The Nurse Practitioner will act as a full
member of the General Surgery Team, taking
responsibility for the safe delivery of care to
both inpatients and outpatients, in consultation
with attendings or residents. This team member
will meet productivity expectations as set forth
by the Chief of General Surgery, performing any
duties related to patient care activities that are
appropriate and clearly delineated.
