MECHANICAL DESIGNER

JOB SUMMARY:

Reviews customer drawings and specifications for any revisions that may apply to company designs or details. Determines and establishes specifications through engineering calculations and layouts.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design basic hydraulic assemblies check valves, relief valves, etc. as well as more complex assemblies manifolds, etc.
- Create assembly and component drawings.
- Review customer drawings and specifications for any revisions that may apply to our designs or details.
- Check drawings and verify design concepts of other designers.
- Create or revise existing drawings using AutoCAD 2010 or latest version, AutoDesk Inventor 2010or CATIA
- Assist the manufacturing department with machining of all components.
- Provide technical support to Assembly Tests area.
- Create test fixture and tooling drawings for test and assembly.
- Assist in new product line design.
- Develop testing/qualification program for new product line.
- Provide technical assistance with test stand purchase development.
- Transfer existing hand drawn designs to CAD format.
- Seek and document lean process improvement ideas for the department.
- Will be required to perform other job duties as requested, directed or assigned.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in hydraulics.
- Must be familiar with Military and Aerospace Specifications.
- Proficient with AutoCAD 2010 or latest version.
- 3D CAD modeling experience with AutoDesk Inventor 2010 or equivalent is preferred.
- Must have working knowledge with Microsoft Office and Windows.
- Knowledge of hydraulic components such as check valves, relief valves and actuators.
