work in a collaborative and creative RD team
across multiple disciplines.

field to create Commercialized Real Products used
in Real Treatments that save Real Lives.
Here are some highlights of this position
Prove the feasibility of design approaches
through the creation of mathematical models, CAD
models, and prototypes. Doctors prefer to aim the
radiation beams as tightly as possible around the
tumor your models and prototypes will help make
that level of accuracy possible over a wide range
of patient weights and beam angles.
Optimize products for performance, cost and
manufacturability. Your designs will need to be
manufacturable at a cost that lets Varian sell
these machines around the world for patients all
around the world.
Design of mechanisms / robotics. The strategy
that you apply to these mechatronics challenges
will set the tolerance stack that lets the doctor
hit small tumors with the right amount of
radiation.
Ensure that task fundamentals are fully
understood, that problems are anticipated and
solved, and that analysis and design approach is
sufficiently rigorous.
You will learn how to make your designs pass
reliability tests in some cases, continuously
working equipment is essential to helping the
patient overcome cancer.
Work with technical and project leads to prepare
and monitor component specifications, cost
estimates, development schedules and hazard
analyses.
Supervise the activities of Designers/Drafters
and Technicians as required to ensure timely
completion of assigned tasks.
Adhere to Varian HR and Design Control
procedures FDA regulated medical device
industry.
Job RequirementsWe would love to hear from
you if the following describes you
BSME plus 7-10 years experience or MSME plus
5-7 years experience
Demonstrated experience and aptitude with
machine design and electromechanical systems plus
expertise in at least one of the following
Structures, Mechanisms/Mechatronics, Material
Science, Heat Transfer.
Working knowledge of instrumentation and ability
to work hands-on.
Demonstrated ability to perform thorough
analyses of complicated mechanical devices and
systems.
Experience with SolidWorks or Pro/Engineer and
PDM is required SolidWorks preferred. FEA
experience is highly desirable.
Engineering calculation software experience is
required. Mathcad is preferred knowledge in
Matlab, Mathematica, or other is acceptable.
Experience in a highly collaborative cross-
functional team environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication
skills.
