PARC was incorporated in 2002 as a wholly owned independent subsidiary of Xerox Corporation - enabling us to continue pioneering technological change but across a broader set of industries and clients today.The Intelligent Systems Lab at the Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) is seeking a research scientist in machine learning to develop novel methods for extracting interesting patterns and trends from temporal, spatial and relational data. Our work for commercial clients as well as government contracts requires the analysis of a wide variety of large data sets with many unique and interesting challenges. Recent projects include helping government agencies identify children whose foster parents are failing them, improving consumer health and reducing obesity using social networks data, estimating models of tool life to improve the quality of part machining, learning preferences of product designers for shapes, analyzing traffic camera images for defects, detecting malicious insiders in organizations, and discovering groups of fraud conspirators in networks of pharmacies, doctors, and patients. In addition to developing machine learning applications with real world impact, PARC values creativity and scientific advancement and encourages publication of novel results and participation in academic communities. The machine learning team is part of a broad network of competencies at PARC. Diverse PARC competencies include high performance machine learning infrastructures, clean energy systems, ethnography, and networking technology. Projects at PARC are frequently interdisciplinary and the machine learning groups regularly collaborates with other groups to develop the best and most appropriate solution for the problem.Responsibilities:-
