Primary responsibilities include surveillance, education, consultation and ensuring that the program conforms to current federal and state laws and Center for Disease Control and Joint Commission guidelines, and collaborating with local and state governmental agencies. the inexperienced Infection Preventionist will complete a preceptorship program under the direction of an experienced Infection Preventionist within the first 6 months of hire and complete a basic Infection Control education Program within the first year of hire.Required knowledge/skills: Current California Registered Nursing (RN) License required. BS Degree in a healthcare related field. Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate required. Five years of acute care experience required. Completion of the MMC Infection Control Preceptorship Program within 6 mos. of hire. Completion of a basic infection control course such as the CDC Surveillance, Prevention, Control of Nosocomial Infection course within 1 year of hire (or 2 years of recent Infection Control experience) and Certification in Infection Control within 3 years of hire. Basic computer skills, working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook and Paragon. Ability to access the internet for research purposes. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to complete projects with little direction or supervision. Excellent critical thinking skills required.Preferred knowledge: Master''s Degree in any of the following: Epidemiology, Public Health, environmental Health or Microbiology.Requires: A current CA Driver''s License, a clean DMV printout and proof of automobile insurance coverage in an amount not less than $50,000 per person/$100,000 per occurrence (or a combined single limit of $100,000) and property damage coverage in amount not less than $50,000 per occurrence, prior to interview.Req#4786
