DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:As a skilled specialist this position is responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance on plant chill water systems, air handlers, steam boiler system, mechanical systems, pneumatic and hydraulic equipmentStart up, operates and shut down chiller plant, steam boiler and make up and feed water systemsTroubleshoots, overhaul and repairs, RO and soft water systems, sand filters, cooling towers, mechanical systems, pumps, condensate pumps, steam traps, and valvesOperate chemical injection water treatment systems for open and closed loops to maintain proper water chemistry. Take water samples, test and take corrective action as neededAlign chill water, condenser water, steam and condensate systems, air compressors and pumpsCalibrates, adjusts, and repairs electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic controls and devicesPrepares and submits prints, sketches, layouts, and material lists as required facilitating repairs and/or modifications to mechanical equipment or systemsResponsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the CompanyExpected to maintain a productive and safe working environment in accordance with established operating procedures and practicesPerforms other duties as assigned or requiredMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Typically requires a two year technical degree or trade school equivalent and ten or more years progressive experience as a stationary engineer. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of educationMust demonstrate a full knowledge of industry mechanic principles, theories, concepts and regulations as well as plumbing and mechanical codes; ability to read and understand schematics; ability to assist in preparation of sketches and processes; and working knowledge of and discretion in safely operating hand and power toolsGood analytical skills to use Energy Management Control Systems to determine current status of operating equipmentGood interpersonal skills to work with all levels of employees, outside vendors and contractorsGood verbal and written communication skills to accurately document and report findingsAbility to resolve non-routine issues that require evaluation and interpretationAbility to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as requiredMust posses a valid driver&rsquo;s license with a good driving record verified by the DMVHeadquartered in San Diego, CA, General Atomics maintains expansive facilities housing engineering, laboratory, and manufacturing operations in Southern California and various locations in the U.S.Location: Poway, CA 92064Required Education: High school diploma/equivalentMinimum Years Exp.: 10
