Complete DescriptionPlumas District Hospital is recruiting for a benefited part time Perinatal Outpatient Nurse Specialist.Job SummaryPerinatal Educator:Functions as an integral member of the perinatal health care team in providing education for obstetrics clients, their families, and support persons. Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan and implement and evaluate group and individual client learning.Promote informed, responsible decision making and active participation in client/family health care. Be an advocate for expectant families, represents Plumas District Hospital, and acts as a liaison between the community and health care providers. Responsible for overseeing the childbirth education classes. Perinatal Diabetes Educator:Educates patients on the necessary lifestyle changes involved in a diabetes diagnosis, including nutrition, medication, physical activity, and glucose testing. Collects patient data to monitor health status and proactively manage the patient''s condition to optimize glucose control and minimize risks to the mother and fetus. Provides individualized diabetes self-management education/training to individuals and groups according to the Scope of Practice, Standards of Practice, and California Sweet Success Guidelines. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required. Reports to the Sweet Success Diabetes Program Physician. Collaborates effectively with the Sweet Success Clinical team. Identifies when a program participants needs are outside the scope of the instructors practice and expertise, and arranges for additional services to meet needs. Participates in the development of training materials. Adheres to the requirements for gathering data, reporting and ongoing participation in the California Sweet Success Program. Perinatal Clinical SystemsAnalyst/ OBTV System Manager:Responsible for the creation and maintenance of clinical documentation, screens, interfaces, and other components of an electronic OB/GYN documentation system. The analyst is responsible for the overall support of OB/GYN documentation system.Lactation Educator:Responsible for providing lactation management services to expectant and new parents. These functions are performed in accordance with the hospitals philosophy, policies, procedures and standards. Provide and facilitate education for nursing mothers, nursing staff, and other health care team members. Develop tools to facilitate a successful breastfeeding program. Evaluate effectiveness of lactation support program. Evaluates and integrates research findings from multiple disciplines into lactation practice.Qualifications:Education: RN license required; BSN degree preferred; OBTV experience preferred; BLS; Childbirth Education certification or a minimum of 2 years experience teaching childbirth education classes. CDE preferred. Experience: 2-4 years experience with implementing and supporting an electronic perinataldocumentation system; 1-2 years experience with fetal monitoring equipment; 5 years experience as a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse; 5 years experience in Maternal-Child Health nursing; Lactation course with 45 hours of CEU and minimum of 2 years of experience in lactation education.Knowledge:Clinical operations and process understanding; Understands pertinent accreditation guidelines, such as JCAHO and Meaningful Use; Demonstrated ability to establish and build strong relationships across a broad range of personality types; D
