The person in this role must be able to work with analysts, application developers, network engineers and other staff to create and maintain a state-of-the-art environment that meets current and future business objectives.Duties and Responsibilities include:· Create performance tuning plan and pro-actively manage database Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO)· Create new databases, tables, views, indexes, scheduled jobs, triggers, logins, etc. based on system specifications· Perform index management· Troubleshoot and resolve database issues· Manage database backup and restore schedule· Implement and maintain High Availability (HA) database servers and Disaster Recovery (DR) plans· Plan and implement Microsoft SQL server upgrades· Implement scripts for operational automation· Collaborate with network engineers and application developers to determine strategic solutions for recurring issues· Write technical documentation to be used as reference material for various tasks· Oversee and train IT staff on the database systems and tasks· Productively handle change and other assigned tasks· Exercise all of the essential functions through regular attendance and punctuality as a full time employeeTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily using excellent leadership, communication and documentation skills. This role requires a service oriented mentality with a high sense of ownership of the issues and requests assigned. The ability to write fully optimized Transact-SQL for various scripts and stored procedures is essential. The individual in this role will work with individuals of all levels and varying technical skills. This role will establish and maintain communication with IT management and staff to provide the status of their requests. Initiating and performing changes on production systems and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes are other aspects of this role. The individual chosen for this position will have the ability to work under strict time constraints with minimal supervision while managing multiple projects simultaneously.Expert knowledge of:Microsoft SQL Server 2005, 2008 or later, Windows Server 2003, 2008 or later, Active Directory, High Availability (HA) database server configuration, Disaster Recovery (DR) plans, Microsoft SQL server upgrade process, Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), index management, database backup and restore, server disk configuration, SQL Server Management Studio, Data Modeling (ERwin or Toad), Transact-SQL (T-SQL),Working knowledge of:Microsoft Visual Source Safe (VSS) or Subversion, Windows 7 or later, Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio and Project.Must have Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science or related field from a four-year college or university.
