Parsons expertise encompasses all phases of transportation engineering operations - from the initial planning stage through final design, construction, and commissioning.  Parsons has the people and power to move the world.The Parsons Transportation Group is currently searching for a System Administrator-Network Database to join our Metrolink Positive Train Control (PTC) team in Rancho Cucamonga, California.Job Description:* The System Administrator-Network Database will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a productiondatabasethat supports a highly integrated suite of subsystems with numerous interfaces throughout a distributed network architecture. The System Administrator will do this in a large multi-contractor and customer project delivery organization. The System Administrator will supervise and coordinate the work of subcontractor personnel.* The System Administrator will be responsible for development and design of database strategies, planning for future expansion requirements, and for database and software configuration management and control.* The System Administrator will plan, co-ordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard the database. The System Administrator will be responsible for writing up and implementing the plans and procedures for designing, building, maintaining, updating, and troubleshooting production databases.* The System Administrator must be a self-starter and capable of being self-directed when necessary. * The System Administrator must function effectively in a large railroad technology and construction project environment, primarily in the engineering office and occasionally in the railroad field environment.* The ideal candidate will be well rounded and capable of taking on a wide range of tasks successfully. The candidate should have an interest and aptitude for long-term growth within the Parsons Transportation Group organization, and will have the ability to transition from the initial project role into a long-term technical resource and subject matter expert.Requirements:<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />Must have a 4y degree in computer science (or related field) and a minimum of 7 years hands-on-experience with sound knowledge in the following areas:* Database development and administration, using Oracle, Oracle Express, and/or MS SQL platforms* Development of forms, business rules, and data flow processes* Linux and Microsoft Operating Systems* Knowledge of network protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, HTTP, SNMP versions 1-3, SNMP MIB)* Knowledge of Ethernet protocols and MPLS networks* Ability to translate data protocols including serial protocols RS442/449/232* Hands-on experience with software and database configuration management and control* Design, implementation, maintenance and repair of an organization''s databases on Oracle and MS SQL platforms* Network Management Systems such as HPOpenView: Network Node Manager* Development and design of database strategies, monitoring and improving database performance and capacity, and planning for future expansion* Implementing database security* Experience in writing Interface Control and data flow definitions and documentation* Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills; ability to overcome technical and non-technical challenges* Ability to determine and input the correct data values into
