JOB SUMMARY:

Directs and implements the Company safety program to ensure a safe, injury and incident-free work environment on assigned projects.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists the Superintendents by suggesting safe work practices as part of preplanning and training establishes jobsite safety procedures
Participates in pre-construction and handoff meetings
Conducts comprehensive on-site safety assessments as part of constant monitoring process
Conduct daily jobsite assessments and documents all safety violations or unsafe conditions/activities ensures corrective measures are immediately implemented follow through to insure corrections have been made
Communicates constantly with the Superintendents, Foremen and craft workers in the crew as it relates to both good and bad safety practices that are observed
Educates project personnel through on-the-spot training and Tool Box Safety Talks
Assists the Superintendent in completing the Weekly Jobsite Safety Checklists
Completes Accident Reporting and Investigation, as needed may accompany an injured employee for treatment and medical evaluation
Administers the Substance Abuse Policy
Orients all project employees to the safety practices required on the project and by the Company
Tracks information needed for the Foremen Safety Incentive Program
Accompanies all safety, health and insurance inspectors on walk through tours coordinates/assists in preparing written appeals for safety violation citations
Coordinates project safety programs with subcontractors
Assists the Superintendent in investigating property damage and personal injury complaints
Accompanies the Superintendent and local EMS on a tour of the project at the beginning of the project and as phasing changes ensures emergency phone numbers are adequately posted
Arranges for basic first aid training for jobsite personnel
Develops the job specific Emergency Management Plan and communicates through orientation to all project personnel
Ensures compliance with contractual obligations, if applicable
Maintains safety files and records
Ensures company policies and procedures are understood and implemented consistently
Develops and continually improves the effectiveness of the departments procedures
Communicates and reinforces the Company vision, values and goals
Performs additional assignments as directed by the Safety Manager/Safety Director
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Advanced knowledge of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local, and Company regulations
Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures
Good computer skills
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Occupational Health  Safety degree preferred from four-year college or university, or equivalent combinations of training and related experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Although not required, it is preferred that the applicant has a health and safety certification recognized by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals BCSP. Absent such certification, the applicant must be qualified to teach OSHA Construction Outreach courses and have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of construction safety experience.
