JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY<br><br>
Performs mechanical repairs to various production lines as required to minimize down time.<br><br>
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<br><br>
Perform preventative maintenance on plant machinery.<br>
Responds to emergency calls and makes immediate repairs wherever possible.<br>
May be required to fabricate equipment, weld, do plumbing and pipe fitting.<br>
Performs a wide variety of mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of production equipment and machinery.<br>
Responds to emergency calls and makes immediate repairs, wherever possible, to prevent interruption of production.<br>
Operation of gasoline and electrical powered machinery in a variety of environments.<br>
Routine exposure to hazardous materials.<br>
Other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.<br><br>
POSITION DIMENSIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS<br><br>
Education Level and Focus<br><br>
Position requires considerable knowledge of the use and care of hand tools, company specific machinery, and equipment and pneumatic/hydraulic systems. Must pass aptitude test for knowledge of measurements, calibrations and comprehension of a variety of test and diagnostic equipment. Current welding certificate required or proof of training and ability to pass a welding certification test is an acceptable alternative. Must have own tools to perform the work needed.<br>
Years and Type of Related Experience Required<br><br>
Minimum five years experience as a journeyman level maintenance mechanic or millwright, preferably in a food plant environment. Must have own tools to accurately perform job. Must demonstrate the mechanical and relationship skills necessary to work successfully with departments requesting various means of mechanical support.<br><br>
Skills and Abilities<br><br>
Math aptitude required for measurements, calibrations, etc.<br><br>
Interpersonal/Communication<br><br>
Technical and Analytical<br><br>
Administration and Operations<br><br>
Must understand Blue Diamond HACCP processes, Good Manufacturing Procedures GMPs and safety practices.<br><br>
Physical Demands<br><br>
See Essential Functions Checklist. Overtime as necessary is a requirement to the performance of this position. This position is very physically demanding in relation to other plant jobs. Working environment includes exposure to a variety of adverse conditions such as heat, cold, noise, dust, fumes, dirt and grease, and outside weather conditions. Position requires the ability to meet the physical demands of heavy lifting candidates will be required to successfully complete a strength and agility test. Must be able to work any shift, weekends and holidays as required. Overtime is a requirement to the performance of this position<br><br>

Exposed to a variety of adverse conditions, depending on assignment. This position requires the employee to operate gasoline and electrical powered machinery in the immediate vicinity of others. He/She works with energized electrical systems and routinely is exposed to hazardous materials.
