SAFETY COORDINATOR - MANUFACTURING

JOB SUMMARY:

<tr><td valign="top" width="450"><b>1.Supervises emergency response and evacuation procedures.  Develops and runs corresponding practice drills.
2.Has knowledge of safety psychology required to lead, motivate, and foster a safety-conscious culture using both behavior-based and person-based approaches in the workplace to reduce incidents and injuries.
3.Inspects facility and the work environment to detect existing or potential accident or health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures.
4.Helps develop Risk /Job Hazard Analysis for the tasks specific to each department.  Ensures control measures are in place for each hazard.  Recommends control measures for any that may be missing and follows through on recommendations to completion using corrective action process.
5.Leads audit teams in auditing safety management system and OSHA compliance.  Helps departments develop recommendations, corrective and preventative actions from non-compliances found during audits and follow through to completion using corrective action process.
6.Reviews and maintains records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures.  Ability to search for and retrieve specific documents as evidence of compliance during  internal and external safety audits.
7.Participates effectively in team initiatives either as a leader or as a supporter.
8.Participates in the investigation of accidents and injuries.  Has experience with incident investigation techniques and has knowledge of Root Cause Analysis for the preparation of corrective and preventative actions.
9.Provides innovative safety solutions and ideas.
10.Has the patience to work hands on to help the entire team understand the companys commitment to safety.
11.Identifies company safety training needs and develops and implements safety training programs.
12.Coordinates objectives with safety procedures in cooperation with other managers to maximize a safe working environment and minimize accidents.
13.Participates as a member of the Safety Committee.
Specialized Knowledge/skills/abilities for performance of Job
Strong OSHA Background required
Direct hands-on safety experience with a comprehensive of knowledge of safety concepts
Safety Program development and administration preferred
Demonstrates excellent communication skills
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion
Moderate Noise level
Ability to work in hot/humid or cold environments
Ability to work irregular/extended hours occasionally

KEY REQUIREMENTS:
3 years High School/GED
