Orthopedic Assistant works under the supervision
of the Physician Assistant and/or Manager of
Perioperative Services in providing quality care
for patients within the Medical Center. The
Orthopedic Assistant assists the physicians and
hospital personnel to meet the needs of the
orthopedic patient population. The Orthopedic
Assistant maintains and orders supplies within the
Orthopedic Department, the Emergency Department
and the Operating Room. This position requires the
full understanding and active participation in
fulfilling the Mission of St. Bernardine Medical
Center. It is expected that the employee will
demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core
Values. The employee shall support St. Bernardine
Medical Centers strategic plan and the goals and
direction of the quality improvement/process
improvement activities. Requirements Two years
experience as Ortho Tech OR Ortho Tech
Certification, Experience with sterile technique.
Completion of Ortho Tech course OR 2 years
experience as Ortho Tech. Ability to cast and
place patients in traction, Ability to assist in
surgery in the scrub assistant role. Ortho Tech
certification OR two years experience as Ortho
Tech, BLS
