Collect on self pay accounts while maintaining excellent customer service.  Working knowledge of governmental and current patient demographic requirements for healthcare and knowledge of Government and commercial insurances is a plus.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:- Review each account, contact patients/hospitals to gather insurance information- Answer incoming calls and provide customer service to patients.- Self Pay Collector-Work with patients on their balances by offering payment options.- Update demographics- Read system notes and note all completed tasks.- Ensuring that files are properly documented with insurance information and other information required for billing and collections- Develop & maintain a good working knowledge of Governmental, Auto and Commercial carriers- The ability to calm upset patients and to reason with them.- Must be compassionate and understanding to difficult situations while keeping focus on task at hand.- Process returned / rejected mail by contacting patients/hospitals and utilizing outside sources.- Complete final reviews on accounts to assure all efforts have been exhausted to collect payment before sending account to a collection agency.- Various other office duties including special projects and working reports.QUALIFICATIONS:Required:Education: High school diploma or equivalent.Experience: Previous experience handling various aspects, Consumer Collections and Customer Service for a healthcare provider preferred or accounts receivable field. Have knowledge of medical terminology. Must possess excellent computer skills with a well rounded knowledge of various other software programs (i.e., Word, Excel,)  Able to work cross functionally to resolve issues.
