The candidate will operate and perform maintenance on high and low power radar, acoustic, HF, UHF, and VHF transmitters and receivers at remote sites in support of the Naval Air Station North Island, Southern California Offshore Range (SCORE) contract, San Diego, CA. The remote sites are located on San Clemente Island. The candidate will manufacture, repair, and install fiber optic, coaxial, and electrical cables and connectors and operate video and network systems, PC''s and terminals.The Electronics Technician, Maintenance maintains repairs, troubleshoots, modifies and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g., radar, radio, television, telecommunication, sonar, and navigational aids); personal and main frame computers and terminals, industrial, medical, measuring, and controlling equipment; and industrial robotic devices. The successful incumbent applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions, and applies skill in restoring equipment operation, evaluates performance and reliability of prototype or production mode, and recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.The Electronics Technician Maintenance II applies basic and some advanced technical knowledge to solve routine problems by interpreting manufacturers'' manuals or similar documents. Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence, in selecting tools, testing instruments, and is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices. This technician works under immediate supervision and achieves technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician.Qualification Requirements: Minimum three years experience in the maintenance and repair of electronic systems. Must be able to maintain and operate, high and low power radar, and microwave components. Must be proficient in the use of a wide range of electronic test equipment; and able to interpret engineering drawing and sketches. Experience with Motorola radio networks, synchro/servo systems; fiber optics, HF, VHF, UHF, and Acoustic transmitters and receivers and desirable. Candidate must be a US citizen.Candidate must have the ability to obtain an Interim Security Clearance (or transfer) in a timely manner, and maintain a US Government (DoD) Secret Clearance for this position on the SCORE Contract.Work Environment: This description describes the general nature of the duties and requirements of the job.
