Eligible ACCES or Special Selection clients should contact their Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for Special Selection.DESCRIPTION:The HR On-boarding Specialist will be charged with creating a positive and seamless on-boarding experience for new UCSD Health System employees. This position will be responsible for initiating the process of integrating employees to UC San Diego Health Sciences. This includes the processing, orientation, training, and knowledge sharing of information to new employees. The position will serve as a primary point of contact for incoming employees and managers/supervisors to ensure that organizational compliance and employment records are collected and maintained. Collaborate and coordinate with key decision makers and stakeholders to obtain and verify compliance and organizational requirements to incorporate into the on-boarding process. In collaboration with HR Records Manager, participate in orientation presentations to new employees. Provide logistical/administrative support and coordination of all scheduled New Employee Orientation sessions.Updates and verifies all personnel actions are prepared, submitted, and processed into the Payroll Personnel System (PPS) in accordance with personnel policies, labor agreements, federal and state laws in a timely manner. Follow up with managers/supervisors and on-boarded employees to promote the engagement process. This position will work with HR leadership in the development and implementation of an integrated HR onboarding process for Health System and Professional School employees. Responsible for developing resources and tools for managers and supervisors related to the orientation process. The employee will be responsible for continuous improvement efforts that create efficient and effective business processes that increase customer satisfaction. Consults with HR manager regarding recruitment, employee and labor relations, payroll, compensation/classification, leave of absences. Responsible for working and collaborating closely with the Health Sciences HR professionals regarding ongoing internal HR-related projects.This is a succession planning position established to provide a developmental path for those interested in pursuing a career in human resources. Incumbents hired into this position are expected to have some theoretical and or practical knowledge in the area of human resources.QUALIFICATIONS:* A minimum of two (2) years previous related human resources administrative experience.* Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.* Knowledge of Human Resources specific policies, procedures and practices.* Familiar with personnel and payroll processes.* Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications (including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).* Have excellent communication skills, both oral and written; ability to communicate ideas and issues clearly, concisely, and accurately. Be able to comfortably and confidently present to large groups of audiences.* Be a self-starter who has good organizational skills, is accountable and requires minimal direction and supervision; a person who is open to new ideas; and a creative and agile individual who is comfortable working in a large, complex organization.* Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability.PREFERRED:* A minimum of (2) years HR/Personnel experience.* Bachelors degree in a related field.* Knowledge of health care/health sciences operations.* Familiarity with LEAN concepts or process mapping methods.* Experience with payroll a
