This position is for a mechanical hardware design
engineer.  Candidate will provide conceptual and
detailed mechanical designs of mechanical
assemblies associated with airborne laser and
optical systems including detailed models and
drawings. Candidates must have a thorough
understanding of heat transfer, structural
mechanics, and mechanical hardware design and
fabrication techniques.  Successful candidates
will provide hands-on technical design
leadership and support to the project using
Solidworks CAD Software and FEA software for
mechanical design, heat transfer, structural, and
modal analyses.  In addition, the successful
candidate is expected to  With limited direction,
exercise considerable latitude for initiating and
developing designs, procedures, techniques and
solution to resolving advanced technical
engineering problems. Assignments are normally
outlined in terms of broad specifications,
objectives, possible results anticipated and
critical reference points requiring special
attention. The successful candidate is expected to
guide the successful resolution of engineering
problems, serve as a consulting resource of
engineering knowledge, apply the latest
technological advancements to the problem, and may
function in a project leadership role.  Documents
findings, communicates results to engineering
staff, makes technical presentations, and may
represent the organization as the prime technical
