Program Description
Peer2Peer Lines is a non-crisis peer support lines that provide countywide telephone counseling services, support and referrals to children and youth/young adults, transitional age youth and another for caregivers/family members of at-risk or stressed children and youth including those who may struggle with mental health, alcohol/drugs or other concerns.
Position Description
Establishes a welcoming connection and communicates in a manner appropriate and respectful.
Develops a supportive, nurturing rapport with parents, family members, and caregivers.
Assists families in coping with stressed children and youth at risk, with mental health issues or other needs.
Provides supportive and culturally sensitive parenting techniques and coping skills to parents, family members and caregivers.
Knowledge of community resources with in San Diego County.
Ability to advoacte and assist families with obtaining resources and information about community providers.
Experience in providing outreach to target populations and strong people and community relation skills.
Education/Experience Requirements
High School diploma or GED. Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Family Counseling preferred.
Life experience as a caregiver/parent/family member of a recipient of behavioral health services.
Bilingual preferred Spanish/English Experience speaking spanish in a professional enviroment
Two + years of professional experience working with the target population preferred

2 years High School/GED
