This position manages and monitors security devices such as Firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Systems, VPN devices, and Security Event & Information Management Systemsfor General Atomics.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Under general guidance from the Data Security Manager:Monitors and manages security devices such as Cisco and Palo Alto Firewalls, Tipping Point Intrusion Prevention Systems, Juniper VPN devices, and Q1 Security Event Management systemsProvides technical support and consultation within General Atomics and affiliates as it relates to network security configurationsProvides fault isolation and resolution for security devices, and escalates when necessaryEnsures compliance with security policies and standardsMay provide Information Security awareness training to employees and contractorsPerforms other duties as assigned or requiredObserves all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the company.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Typically requires an Associate&rsquo;s degree or Certificate (A+ or security+) in a related discipline and three or more years of progressive professional security administration experience in an Information Technology department.Equivalent professional experience in corporate Information Technology Security may be substituted in lieu of educationMust demonstrate a basic understanding of Information Security Administration principles, concepts, practices, and standards including but not limited to, Cisco and Palo Alto firewalls, Tipping Point Intrusion protection and detection, Juniper VPN devices, TCP/IP and related Internet protocols; and skills including organizing, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating work assignments to meet project milestones or established completion datesMust be customer focused and possess: (1) the ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop solutions to a variety of non-routine technical problems; (2) good analytical, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings; (3) the ability to maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information; (4) the ability to initiate, plan, and manage projects; (5) the ability to represent the company as a knowledgeable resource on external projects ; and (6) strong computer skills.
