The primary responsibilities of the position include
- Review Company processes and procedures to ensure accurate and complete information is being captured for sales and use tax reporting. Recommend and implement system improvements as needed. Identify risks and opportunities.
- Liaison with service provider on monthly reporting, review monthly sales and use tax compliance filings, review sales tax codes and geo codes.
- Responsible for monthly property tax accruals and sales and use tax accruals.
- Prepare monthly GL account reconciliations for sales and property tax liabilities and timely provide adjustments.
- Ensure the Company is in compliance with tax laws. Monitor sales tax nexus in various states. Keep abreast of legislative developments that impact the compliance functions.
- Facilitate and manage assigned tax audits.
- Develop and implement tax planning and tax savings ideas. Provide input and recommendations to reduce tax liabilities and improve Company policies for tax compliance functions.
- Perform tax research and resolve tax issues, as needed
- Provide technically accurate yet pragmatic advice to stakeholders in structuring specific business transactions
- Timely identify, communicate and resolve processing problems to the appropriate stakeholders. Apply creativity and initiative in the performance of responsibility, problem solving and managing the increasing volume of tax compliance functions
- Provide support with special projects and studies as needed
REQUIREMENTS
This job requires a highly motivated, detail-oriented, deadline-minded person who has strong verbal and written communication skills to explain technical concepts into plain English for stakeholders. In addition, a high level of experience with sales and use tax which includes compliance and tax software set-up, good accounting skills including account analysis
- 7+ years of sales and use tax compliance, consulting experience Big 4 accounting firm experience is a benefit
- Bachelors degree required Finance, Accounting or related field preferred
- Solid understanding of tax concepts and ability to apply them
- Strong computer skills, proficiency in Excel, OneSource, and familiarity with general ledger accounting systems
- Strong technical research skills
- Possess exceptional organizational skills, ability to multi-task, manage projects, and prioritize
- Ability to work independently and solve problems and issues with little supervision
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to deal effectively with staff, management, outside consultants and taxing authorities
- Ability to anticipate problems and exercise sound judgment in determining courses of action
- Enthusiastic worker, highly motivated, quick study, critical thinking, bias towards action
- Have high ethical standards
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as function with independent responsibilities

7 years Bachelors degree
