The EMS Group supports government customers, which include the Department of Defense, Department of Energy and the Department of Transportation.This position is responsible for determining and developing effective approaches for resolving a wide range of difficult engineering problems. Assignments are normally outlined in terms of overall objectives and anticipated results. Work is reviewed at milestones or at completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Documents findings, communicates results to engineering staff and makes technical presentations as requiredMay coordinate segments of a specific project and may have frequent inter-organization and customer contact on difficult technical issuesProvides direction to design or technical staff and may provide direction to less experienced professional staffSupports the coordination all activities between design engineering, QA, procurement, program office, planning, configuration management, vendor and customerProvides design input and guidanceEnsures design and procurement documents are in place to support procurement of componentDocuments findings and implement solutions and communicates results to engineering staffMay provide direction to design or technician staffResponsible for day to day management of subcontractors for various componentsIdentifies and mitigates risk associated with programAssists in development and coordination production schedule and provide cost and schedule status to management and program officeConducts technical evaluations to support procurement decisionsSupports and resolves issues and problems at the test site to support test scheduleInterfaces with the customer (Navy) and Shipyard to support delivery and installation of components and hardwareSupports testing of components and hardwareProvides oversight to production material, components, assemblies and subsystems to ensure manufacturing/construction/fabrication schedule is met and within budgetDevelops contract Production Data PackagesDevelops procurement documents and specifications, Statement of Work (SOW) documents and proposals for engineered components and assembliesEnsures Contract requirements are followed and passed down to the vendorAdvises management and the program office of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as neededWorks with engineering design and project management to resolve any design related issue impacting production and to improve product designOther duties as assignedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Typically requires a Bachelor&rsquo;s degree, Master&rsquo;s degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a Bachelor&rsquo;s degree or two or more years of experience with a Master&rsquo;s degreeMay substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of educationMust have a complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialtiesMust possess the ability
