Join ARINC and help shape our future while creating yours.ARINC in San Diego, CA is looking for a Part-Time Software Maintenance Engineer to support our Defense Systems Engineering division. This position will provide software application full life cycle support for our JTRS Reference Information Laboratory client. This position will support existing engineering personnel in the design, code, and unit test of software. The candidate should expect to develop software in both prototype and production configurations. The successful candidate must be able to manage their workload and meet software development and test timelines under limited direction from other engineering personnel. The candidate must also participate in design reviews and develop software according to the project’s coding standards.The successful candidate''s responsibilities will include:• Supporting new design and development efforts as well as maintenance and enhancement to legacy systems.• Designing, implementing, and supporting software in both prototype and production environments.• Working on a team of analysts and engineers to interpret system requirements into software functions, and to maintain and help design and develop software products.• Conducting software integration testing of custom software items on a target platform.Qualifications Required Experience:• 3 or more years’ experience in software development for operational systems.• Experience designing and implementing software using object oriented programming languages such as C++, Java, Unix or C#.• Experience working with and creating software use cases, software requirements, software specifications, and interface specifications.• Experience with testing methodologies, software design principals and development life-cycles.• Experience with change management processes and procedures.• Ability to work as part of a small, dynamic, and skilled team on high-impact and high-visibility projects.• Strong communication skills: verbal and written.Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classification information.Education or Certification Requirements:Typically requires a Masters degree in a technical area.
